My jewelry career began without forethought. I began making jewelry in response to a request from my spiritual teacher, Adi Da Samraj. He asked that a pendant be made that He could give to devotees. There were already devotees in Bhagavan’s community who had jewelry skills. I served to gather their artistic and technical resources together into a guild, and, in doing so, I learned from all of them, and many more. The work required that I set up a small jewelry/casting shop and I asked Adi Da if I could make jewelry that I could sell to devotees in order to cover the expenses and overhead of a shop. He blessed the endeavor and gave the fledging jewelry business the name “Sacred Fires”, saying that He was giving me that name because I serve Him and His community of devotees.
When Nara and I got together we combined our skills and formed "Color and Substance". A few years later Adi Da was speaking about consciousness and made the statement shown above, in the Color and Substance header. So, it's settled.
Making articles of remembrance is what I like most. It is my hope and intention that you, who I am making the piece for, value wearing it as much as I value making it.
